Only partial ruins remain of the infirmary of Christ Church Priory. This is where sick or elderly monks were looked after. To find it, walk right around the east end of the cathedral (the corona) and the infirmary ruins will be on your left. They can also be approached from the opposite side – from the main cloisters, walk past the water tower and continue eastwards.
An isolated piece of Thanet Sandstone can be seen among the bricks in the overview image. The image top right shows modern piddock (a marine bivalve) borings – a burrow on the far left still retains both valves of the mollusc's shell.
