Description

 

The stele (upright stone slab) stands in a grassy area just north of the water tower.

 

The artist was Robbie Schneider who describes himself as a "lettering sculptor".  The stele, of blue grey Cumbrian slate, is called The Journey and the writing, in Italian, is the first six lines of Dante's Inferno: ‘In the middle of the journey of our life I found myself in a dark wood…".
